MENA Newswire: With its innovative MULTI elevator system, TK Elevator impressively displayed its engineering expertise and technological leadership at EXPO 2020 Dubai, which ended recently, and attracted a high level of visitor interest. Since October 2021 and in line with the motto “Connecting minds, shaping the future”, more than 190 countries took the opportunity to present their most advanced technologies to visitors from all over the world. The first World Expo in the region attracted around 23 million visits. At the German Pavilion, latest German technologies and solutions in the fields of energy, cities of the future and biodiversity have been exhibited – and with MULTI TK Elevator proved that urban mobility of the future knows no boundaries.
MULTI is the first ropeless elevator for high-rise buildings that can move both vertically and horizontally thanks to a linear motor, enabling completely new building heights. As several cabins travel simultaneously and autonomously in one shaft, the available shaft space is used more efficiently, while waiting times for elevator users are significantly reduced.
With a digital exhibit in Dubai, TK Elevator demonstrated how MULTI operates in a high-rise building of the future, with monitors forming the elevator shafts on which cabins circulate in different scenarios – for example, at busy times of the day such as rush hour. A dynamic 3D animation also gave visitors a look inside the building, where they could see and experience the innovative elevator system in operation.
“EXPO 2020 Dubai was an ideal platform to present our pioneering MULTI elevator system. We are delighted that our MULTI attracted such great interest. As one of the leading companies in the elevator industry, we already provide a broad urban mobility portfolio, and MULTI will become a unique addition to future mega tall buildings,” says Peter Walker, CEO of TK Elevator.
The realization of the MULTI continues to progress at the same time. At TK Elevator’s test tower in Rottweil, Germany, a fully functional 1:1 model is on display since 2017, and its MULTI-specific components are continuously optimized. As the European Lift Institute has already granted approval for the general MULTI concept as well as for its dedicated safety concept, work is now underway to certify the components’ design, among other things. Once this is completed, an updated version of the prototype will be installed, with which TK Elevator is aiming for European TYP approval by the end of 2023. The company is already advising interested architects and building planners on the integration of the new standard-setting elevator system in future high-rise buildings.
TK Elevator (formerly: thyssenkrupp Elevator) has customers in over 100 countries served by more than 50,000 employees, TK Elevator achieved sales of around €8 billion in the fiscal year 2020/2021. Over 1,000 locations around the world provide an extensive network that guarantees closeness to customers. Over the past decades, TK Elevator has established itself as one of the world’s leading elevator companies and became independent since its sale by thyssenkrupp AG in August 2020.
The company’s most important business line is the service business represented by over 24,000 service technicians. The product portfolio covers commodity elevators for residential and commercial buildings to cutting-edge, highly customized solutions for state-of-the-art skyscrapers. In addition, it also consists of escalators and moving walks, passenger boarding bridges, stair and platform lifts.
